Battle Stations!

Being a production coordinator at Duffey Petrosky, I rarely find myself at my desk — I’m always running things back and forth across the building, running/attending work start meetings or sharing my thoughts, ideas and opinions with the creative or account departments.

But when I am at my desk, I like it to be clean. And don’t take that the wrong way — just because it’s clean doesn’t mean I’m not busy. I manage dozens of projects — all with different schedules — simultaneously , and having a clean desk helps me stay organized.

The walls around my desk in my little cube are a much different story.

I have them covered with pictures of loved ones, sticky note reminders, infographics, figurines and art that inspires me. And well, at times, it may seem like my cubical’s walls are caving in on me, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Now that you’ve seen mine, I’d love to see yours! Post your best battle station pics in the comments below.

The toughest decision.

Starbucks, the wonderful company it is, surprised me with a birthday card offering one free drink to celebrate my big day with. I wouldn’t normally consider my birthday a big deal, but this year, I’m turning 25, which certainly has its perks — like lower insurance premiums.

But I digress.

The card my favorite coffee company sent me has no restrictions as to what type, size or number of add-ons I can order. And that presents quite the predicament — do I order my usual trenta-sized, iced Caffè Misto with a shot a caramel syrup or do I order something outlandish, like the most expensive Starbucks drink ever?

So I’m asking for help.

What would you order from Starbucks if you could get any drink you wanted for free? Would you play it safe or order something extreme?

Should I Send this E-mail?

Some time ago a colleague sent this infographic to me in an e-mail. It made me laugh, but also made me realize that I need to send out more e-mails about cats.

Enjoy!

Home is wherever I’m with you.

And quite soon, it really will be home.

After almost six weeks in C.S. Mott, riding a roller coaster of emotions, countless sleepless nights, too many hospital meals and a newfound appreciation for my insurance policy, our little Lilly Bug is scheduled to come home this week.

Yay.

In the meantime, enjoy these neat new pics of her:

Happy St. Pat's!

It's like "Stuff on my Cat," but with a baby.

It's like "Stuff on my Cat," except with a baby.

Dino attack!

Dino attack!

Our next big step is getting her on the bottle — no, we’re not turning her into a little alchie — so we can take the NG tube out.

Stay tuned for more updates.

The wait is almost over.

Like most ad men, I’m heels-over-head for AMC’s Mad Men. And with the wait for the season five premiere rapidly coming to an end, I’ve started planning my Premiere Party.

It’s going to be a night full of smoking cigarettes and drinking Old Fashioneds, all while dressed in my favorite suit.

That’s it. But I couldn’t be more excited about it.

Does anybody else have a Premiere Party planned? I’d love to hear how others are planning to celebrate.

And by chance if you haven’t seen any of the teasers yet, here’s one of my favorites:

Meet Noelle

All snuggled up.

A Jenn Hooten original.

Holidays are one of my most favorite times of year.

And it isn’t because of family gatherings or gifts or short work weeks. It’s because of the wonderful cards my friend Jenn Hooten makes. They are the absolute best.

My wife and I received Jenn’s Christmas card in the mail today, and it is so lovely that I just need to share it with the world — or at least the 12 people who visit my blog on a daily basis.

I hope the 12 of you find it just as fabulous as I do.

Speak like an ad man.

A friend of mine recently introduced me to AdSpeak — a blog that teaches you how to speak like you work in an agency creative department. It was a short-lived, but provided just the laugh I needed in the middle of a very busy day.

I encourage you to visit for yourself, but thought I’d share a few of my favorites here.

Do any of my ad man friends have any popular sayings from your shops not covered here or on AdSpeak? I’d love to hear them.

Seven and change.

It’s just a little more than seven weeks until our baby Noelle Lillian Hope arrives, and the apartment is already being turned into baby central.

Besides having to find new homes for a lot of my stuff, the biggest change has taken place in the spare bedroom — what was once my Fortress of Solitude now has pink walls, a closet full of baby clothes and the name “Noelle” hanging on the wall.

Here’s a sneak peek:

If anybody has any suggestions for baby “must-haves” or tips on being a first-time dad, I’d love for you to post them in the comments section below.

I really like this spot.

I hope you like it, too.

Enjoy!
